Waiting for Prince Charming?

"Some day my prince will come ... some day when my dreams come true!"

For as long as I can remember, I've thought of my future husband by two "terms of endearment" - My Future Husband and My Prince Charming. This week, I was reading The IDD Blog (which I highly recommend, if you're young, female and unmarried!) and was challenged by this statement:

Since I just happen to love things "princess-y," I imagine I'll continue to refer to my future husband as My Prince Charming. The habit of 23 (almost 24!) years is hard to break ... and in my vocabulary, this phrase is a term of endearment for the young man I don't yet know, but will "someday" (by the grace of God) marry. But even as my heart and lips shape the words, I'll remember that My Prince Charming is not perfect ... because he's a man. But that's okay (if for no other reason, than because I'm not perfect ... I'm a woman, with all the strengths and weaknesses that entails) and by the grace of God, my future husband and I will have a strong and happy marriage, springing not from a fairy tale, but from the loving hearts of two ordinary people who love God and want to honor Him in everything - even (especially?) their marriage, when "dreams come true."

My dear husband isn't Prince Charming, but he is my knight! None of us is perfect - which makes for a very special gift in marriage as personalities of husband and wife are molded into unity.
