I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway ...
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway."
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway ...
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway."
I watched 'Princess Diaries 2' last night. It was actually a silly thing to do in a way, because I don't really like the film. It's cute and funny, but annoying! Julie Andrews is amazing and Anne Hatheway is sweet, but I think the story-line lets them down ... I, er, don't like the story-line! 'Princess Diaries 1' is much better (in my not-so-humble opinion)!
However ... there's one scene in 'Princess Diaries 2' that I really like!
About half-way through the film Princess Mia attends the 'Genovian Independence Day Parade'. She's riding in the parade in a carriage with her grandmother, Queen Clarice, when she notices a little orphan girl being teased by some boys. Princess Mia stops the carriage (and the parade), rescues the little girl and invites all the orphans to join the parade.
As Princess Mia and the orphans join the parade, there's a song that plays, saying:
"I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway ..."
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway ..."
There's something about this scene in 'Princess Diaries 2' and this song that touches a chord deep inside my heart. Maybe because Princess Mia steps out of her comfort zone to do the right thing and help someone else. Maybe because in doing so she spreads her wings and learns how to fly. Maybe because she takes a chance and makes a change ... something I long to do too!
Whatever it is, it's special. And it encourages me to do the same - spread my wings and learn how to fly, take a chance and make a change ... in my family and in my world, for Jesus. I'd like to make a change - to make a difference - for good. Please, God, help me to do that ...

Wow, you've been writing a lot lately - and all of it is so good! I love the "lighter posts" about going shopping and impulse buys and I love the more serious ones - like this and the one before it.
I'm so glad you decided to start blogging!
About this post. I love it. I've never been too crazy about the song, due to some negative connotations (that have nothing to do with the movie, just personal experience), but your post is making me rather like it. :-) So, thanks.
Awww ... thank you! I'm glad I made you 'rather like' this song. I'm not sure I'd love it independently, but I love in in 'PD2'! I'm glad I started blogging too. I love it! :->
