'God is God'

I was driving my mother and one of my sisters around the city today, running errands. While I drove, we listened to Stephen Curtis Chapman's CD 'Declaration'. The words of this song - 'God is God' - really made me stop and think.

Mankind - made in the image of God - is the only thing created by God that questions Him ... that can reason and ask, 'Why?' I think our ability to do that is one of the ways in which we are made in God's image, but ... where does it get us?

Sometimes God answers our questions with fresh revelation and new understanding, but sometimes He doesn't ... sometimes we ask questions and still fail to 'understand it all'.

Because ... 'only God is God'. It frustrates me ... I often (too often?) ask, 'Why?' and I want to 'understand it all'! But I this song is reassuring too ... 'I'll never understand it all', but 'God is God'. 'I can only see a part of the picture He's painting ...' but God can see all of it!
